Twelve Games at Taylor Center Highlight 2024-25 Maverick Men’s Basketball Schedule - Minnesota State University - Mankato Athletics (2024)

MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State men's basketball team will compete in 30 games during the 2024-25 season, including 12 at home in Taylor Center.

"I am very excited about this season's schedule," head coach Matt Margenthaler said. "It will be one of the more challenging schedules that we have had in a long time and will prepare us for an always tough Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference."

Last season, the Mavericks claimed their fifth NSIC Championship, before winning their first NCAA Division II Championship. In total, the Mavericks will take on five teams that reached the NCAA Tournament last season including Florida Southern (third round), North Georgia (Elite Eight), Southwest Minnesota State (first round), Minnesota Duluth (second round) and MSU Moorhead (second round).

MSU starts with a road exhibition as it travels to Lexington, Ky., to take on Kentucky with tip-off at Rupp Arena to be determined.

The Mavericks open their regular season schedule at the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic in Lakeland, Fla. MSU opens the event against host Florida Southern on Nov. 2 at 4:45 p.m. (CST), before finishing the trip with its first ever meeting vs. North Georgia on Nov. 3 at 7:00 p.m. Last season, Florida Southern fell to Nova Southeastern in the NCAA South Regional Championship, while North Georgia was eliminated in the Elite Eight by West Texas A&M.

The Central Region Challenge at the Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo., will be the next stop for the Mavericks as they take on Southern Arkansas on Nov. 8 at 1:00 p.m., before facing Washburn on Nov. 9 at 3:00 p.m.

Nov. 16 will see the Mavericks travel to Marshall, Minn., to take on Southwest Minnesota State in a nonconference encounter, before they open their home slate at Taylor Center on Nov. 23 against Minnesota Morris. Tip-offs against the Mustangs and the Cougars are to be determined.

Minnesota State then wraps up its nonconference schedule in Sioux Falls, S.D., as it takes part in the Augie Tournament at the Sanford Pentagon. MSU begins with noon game vs. future NSIC opponent Jamestown on Nov. 29, before finishing the weekend on Nov. 30 with an 11:00 a.m. meeting with Truman State.

The month of December will see the Mavericks play in six NSIC contests, including three at home. MSU opens the month with road games at Wayne State on Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m. and Augustana on Dec. 7 at 5:30 p.m. The Mavericks then return home for a three-game stretch that includes matchups against Southwest Minnesota State on Dec. 13 (7:30 p.m.), Sioux Falls on Dec. 14 (6:30 p.m.) and Concordia-St. Paul on Dec. 19 (7:30 p.m.). MSU wraps up the 2024 calendar year on Dec. 21 with a road game at Winona State with the tip-off to be determined.

Back from winter break, the month of January will see the Mavericks compete in eight games, including four in Taylor Center. MSU starts the month of January on the road with games at UMary on Jan. 3 (7:30 p.m.) and at Minot State on Jan. 4 (5:30 p.m.).

After its trip to North Dakota, Minnesota State returns home for four consecutive games at Taylor Center, beginning with a 7:30 p.m. tip-off vs. Bemidji State on Jan. 10 and a 5:30 p.m. start against Minnesota Crookston. The Mavericks then face MSU Moorhead on Jan. 17 at 5:30 p.m., before finishing the homestand on Jan. 18 against St. Cloud State at 3:30 p.m.

The month of January concludes with road games at Northern State on Jan. 24 and Concordia-St. Paul on Jan. 30, with both games set to begin at 5:30 p.m.

The month of February will see the Mavericks wrap up their regular season schedule with eight more games. MSU's four home games in the month of February including meetings against Winona State (Feb. 1/TBA), Wayne State (Feb. 6/5:30 p.m.), Minot State (Feb. 14/5:30 p.m.) and UMary (Feb. 15/3:30 p.m.). The Mavericks' four road games of the month include meetings against Sioux Falls on Feb. 8 and Minnesota Duluth on Feb. 11. MSU then finishes its regular season schedule on road with games at St. Cloud State on Feb. 21 at 5:30 p.m. and MSU Moorhead on Feb. 22 at 3:30 p.m.

The first round of the NSIC Tournament is scheduled for Feb. 26, with the site and tip-off to be determined. The final three rounds of the NSIC Tournament will be held at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D. from March 1-4.

The NCAA Central Region Tournament will be held from March 15-18 with the site to be determined. The NCAA Elite Eight will take place at the Ford Center in Evansville, Ind., from March 25-29.
